Complicated Grief

Grief is a complicated animal, isn’t it?

Grief is one of the aspects of this human experience that humbles all of us.

Words don’t reach the depth of grief’s ache.

Grief is like an unwelcome guest that shows up when you least expect him, stays for longer than anyone wants, wrecks us from the inside out, upends every aspect of our lives, until – for a time – all we can see is the fog of grief. Eventually the fog lifts a little, before returning. Grief comes and goes until eventually, _finally_, we are no longer surprised by its presence but more accustomed to it’s shadow.

In this week’s episode we talked about Jenny and Hal’s loss of their infant daughter. Grief.

Heartache.

An avalanche of emotions involved in the loss of a precious little one. Grieving the loss of a child you didn’t get a chance to hold or that you only held for a few days is hard, messy, and complicated.

But God…

He knows.

He sees.

In this episode, Jenny and I discuss her first pregnancy and the loss of their daughter, Everly Jade. As well as grieving while navigating complex emotions, complicated feelings towards God, and finding peace.

Topics covered in this episode with Jenny Rogers:

• The story of Everly Jade Rodgers

• Divine intervention at the hospital

• The first few days after losing a baby

• Jenny’s faith during this time

• Finding peace after grief

Sometimes things happen in this life that we don’t understand, but we can take comfort in knowing that God doesn’t leave us to suffer alone. If you or someone you care about is grieving a loss, hold them tight.

He is close, and someday we’ll be reunited with all of our loved ones, including those sweet, precious little ones who left our arms too soon.
